Rite of Christian Initiation of
The RCIA Rite of Election will be
celebrated on Sunday 17 February
2.30pm at Sacred Heart Cathedral
Hamilton. Bishop Bill will preside at
this liturgy, during which the Church
acknowledges the readiness of
those catechumens and candidates
who will receive the Sacraments of
Initiation during the Easter season.
Following the liturgy afternoon
tea will be ser ved in the diocesan
rooms. All are welcome.
Every child counts: Catholic
Schools Week competition
The Catholic Schools Week theme
for 2013 is "Every child counts"
and students in Catholic schools
are invited to submit a 20 second
video outlining why they think every
child counts. Competition closes
3pm Thursday 21 February and
prizes include iPads and gift cards.

What constitutes recognition?
To further the discussion about
recognition of Aboriginal people
in the Australian Constitution, the
Hunter Presbytery Social Justice
Committee invites you to a series
of public meetings. Come and
learn more about what is in our
Constitution that is problematic,
and what is missing and needs
to be added, and join a healthy
debate on the subject.

Wesley Uniting Church, East
Maitland, Tuesday 5 March, 6.30pm-

safeTALK: Suicide alertness for
Seasons for Growth (SfG) has
partnered with Lifeline Newcastle &
Hunter to offer safeTALK, a half day
presentation to increase suicide

Caring for the homeless in
The Social Justice Committee of
St Vincent de Paul in the Lower
Hunter is hosting a dinner with
guest speaker Dr John Falzon on
Wednesday 6 March at the East
Maitland Bowling Club. As Executive
Officer of the National Council of
St Vincent de Paul, Dr Falzon is
well known for his outspoken views
when advocating for those who live
at the margins of society, especially
as a result of the inequitable
distribution of wealth in our country.
The evening commences at 6.30
for 7pm, tickets are $45.00 for a
two course dinner. Drinks may be
bought at the bar. All proceeds
go towards the establishment of a
facility for the homeless in Maitland.

The Council for Australian Catholic
Women will celebrate IWD on
Sunday 10 March with 9.30am
Mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral
with Bishop Bill as presider. Morning

University of Newcastle chaplain,
former chaplain at Calvary Mater
Hospital and a minister of the

Catholic Volunteer Service
The Diocese of Broome, WA,
needs volunteers to assist with
the work of the local church
on Aboriginal Missions. There
are various important voluntary
tasks: administration, building
