Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
The RCIA Rite of Election will be celebr ated
on Sunday 9 March 2.30 pm at Sacred
Hear t Cathedr al Hamilton. Bishop Bill will
preside at this liturgy, during which the
Church acknowledges the r eadiness of
those catechumens and candidates who
will receive the Sacraments of Initiation
during the Easter season. After noon tea will
be ser ved in the Diocesan Rooms at the

The Council for Australian Catholic Women
Contact Group in the Diocese of Maitland-
Newcastle will be celebrating Inter national
Women's Day on Sunday 9 March
beginning with Mass at the Sacred Hear t
Cathedr al Hamilton at 9.30am. This will
be followed by morning tea in the Toohey
Room, in the diocesan offices adjacent to
the Cathedral. A panel of local Catholic
women will speak briefly about some aspect
of their lives and this will be followed by a
question and answer session. The theme for
Inter national Women's Day 2014 is "Ending
Pover ty for Women and Girls through

Contemporary music combines with
pr ayer, gospel reading and periods of silent
reflection before the Eucharist to cr eate a
